Why does my computer ask to open with every time i click a program?

every time i chose a program a window open and says what do you want to open with at the top is says rundii32.exe so i looked for that program and i dont even have it what does this mean what is rundii32.exe and how do i get it back and how do i fix the open with problemWhy does my computer ask to open with every time i click a program?
if its asking what you want to open it with sounds like the files have no file extensions, but that makes no sense, unless windows is corrupt, in which case you should use the repair install on the windows disk.

rundii32.exe sounds like somthing that is either a virus, or is installed in windows. do a virus scanWhy does my computer ask to open with every time i click a program?
The same thing is happening to me, right this second. I have no idea what is going on. It's really getting to me. I can't open anything with out ';open with'; popping up. I'm thinking about just stripping my computer and starting from scratch. I don't know what to do though. I need help too....
It's called ';file associations'; - Windows has a list of file types and the corresponding software it should automatically open it with.

What file types are you trying to open? .exe's? (find out by right clicking them and going to Properties).

If your Windows file associations are all messed up, it could have been a virus or some other issue that caused damage to your system files. You're best bet is to put in a Windows disc and see if anything needs to be repaired in your system files.
