. when i open a app on my itouch it goes back to the home page.What is going on and how can i fix it?

Im having problems with the itouch. i keep on opening apps and they seem to shut down and the screens goes back to the homepage without me being able to use the app. im really frustrated and angry since one of my apps was virtual villagers 3 and i left it on full speed but since i cant seem to reach the game anymore im sure all the villagers died and that i will have to start over. another thing that concerned me was how this happens when i have no internet but some apps that i use dont need internet but still wont open. i have no idea what is going on but im getting really frustrated and angry so if anybody has anyway to stop this from happening or a reason why this is happenning i would be glad if you told me .. when i open a app on my itouch it goes back to the home page.What is going on and how can i fix it?
The apps are crashing. A reasonable bet as to why this is happening would be a memory issue (shortage of RAM). Try rebooting your iPod. If that fails, the next step would be to delete the app and reinstall it. If still in the unlikely case that it still doesn't work you'll just have to restore.
