How can I connect to the net wirelessly without opening the PC?

I can't connect to the net with my laptop when the PC is not opened... why is that? my current router is a linksys WRT160N... is there anyway I can connect without opening the PC... thanksHow can I connect to the net wirelessly without opening the PC?
You should NOT have to have the PC on to connect with the Laptop, You should be able to connect directly to the Linksys router.





Make sure that the laptops Internet connection is not set to the connect to the PC''s and you are NOT sharing the PC's connection.





In the laptop check the Wireless Local Area Connection in the Control Panel and insure that it is set to your router and that it is set to obtain an IP address automatically.





Check the router to insure that it is actually in the network... Cable /DSL wire to the Modem, Ethernet Cable from the OUTPUR of the Modem to the Router's INPUT, Ethernet Cable from the OUTPUT of the Router to the PC.How can I connect to the net wirelessly without opening the PC?
If you are using a wireless router and the modem is connected to it, it should work fine.
