How do I use the can opener with my can to open my ammo can?

This is a stupid question but I'm having a hell of a time popping my ammo cans open with the opener that came with them. It's not the type that uses a key, just the opener. Can anyone help me out before I have to bust out the tools? Thanks in advance! How do I use the can opener with my can to open my ammo can?
Commie surplus ammo in the big ham can? Those cans are tougher than the opener tool!

I got an old big flat blade screwdriver and make a flat chisel point with my dremel tool, or a grinder or file will work.

Gently hammer the screwdriver along one edge into the can, not too deep, then turn the blade almost parrallel and tap all around the can just inside the lip. You only go about 1/8 inch each time. Be patient and don't damage the boxes inside and don't go deep in the can on the improbable chance you hit a primer.

You really only need to cut about halfway around, then peel the metal back and unload the ammo boxes or packs.

It's just like the old issue p-38 , works the same way !
what does the opener look like?

the 1200+ can of 7.62 X 39 I bought was in a soldered can...

no opener. I used a broken M1 bayonet to peel it open:

messy but effective.
I am going to back up the P-38, I have my first one still on my key chine.

That is a handy tool.
