How do you open a port in a wireless internet connection?

I use a SmartBro wireless broadband in our house. I'm having difficulty getting a good connection with BitTorrent, as there is no incoming network connection. It keeps telling me to open up a port. How can I do this? My wireless transmitter is Motorola and I have a ZoneAlarm Free Firewall installed.
