Family is getting sick, how to stop neighbors from continuing?

My family and I live in a mansion in tokyo. Every family member, especially my little sister is very sensitive to bad air (pollution, perfume, house dust etc.) and so we chose a apartment where we can open all our windows and air can keep ventilating. And things were ok.


But a few months back new neighbors moved in next door and with them they put up a huge board (as a blind) on their porch. We didn't think much about it until my sister got an asthma attack and so thinking the board might be the cause, we took it off. And she stopped getting sick. The board stopped the air from ventilating.


The landlord put the board back up though and told us if we took it down again we would be trespassing. So my sister is sleeping in the kitchen with my mom with all the windows and the front door open to keep the air moving. But we can't have her sleep in the kitchen forever..


We have tried making suggestions that our neighbors use a blind that lets air through and even offered to make a customized one that we could both agree on but they say they only want the board and they won't communicate with us, only through the landlord.





Does anyone have any creative, legal, etc ideas on how we can get the board off?

You need to ask the landlord if he will explain the situation to the people. Your health of your sister is troubling you and that makes sense to most people.





Ask your landlord if he will tell the neighbors that you are sorry about the miscommunications and anxiety that have occurred, but that the welfare of your sister is what has been the cause of your behavior.





Volunteer to pay for a new device that will let the air through but provide the barrier your neighbors want. Try to get them to understand where you are coming from and good luck!
