How do you set a file to open with a different version of software?

I have Pivot stick animator and when I download a stick file it opens it in the old version. I have a new version now, and when i download the stick file it goes to the old one. please help on how i can get it to open in the new versionHow do you set a file to open with a different version of software?
right click the stick file, and go to Open With, and select your NEW version, if it doesnt have the new version in the list, then find it on your computer, and then doubleclick on it.How do you set a file to open with a different version of software?
right click on the file go to open with a menu should pop out select the new software u want to open it with, or browse if it doesnt show. then put a check mark always use this software to open this type of files.
