Computer itself don't delete files... You probably have a million viruses my friend...

I guess you could Start %26gt; Accessories %26gt; System Tools %26gt; System Restore... I really have no idea where that takes you and your computer might not work after that but you asked for it.HOW DO I RESTORE MY STUPID COMPUTER!?
Part of your problem is your attitude, it sucks more than your puter does, the other part is you obviously don't know what you're doing with the computer. During the boot process you will see an F key mentioned for restoring your computer!
problems with computers is operator error not the computer

to reinstall vista to factory settings %26gt; Press F 8 at start up

for xp

1 Turn on the computer.

2 When the Dell splash screen appears during the computer startup process, press and hold %26lt;Ctrl%26gt; and then press %26lt;F11%26gt;. Then, release both keys at the same time.

Well first of all since it is a dell it should have come with driver disks and a Re-installation disk. the first step I would take is to back up any data you want to save on either a flashdrive or an external hard drive. if you aren't worried about that I would follow these steps:

1) Find the disk that should say something like reinstall disk mine says:

OPERATING SYSTEM

ALREADY INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER

Reinstallation DVD

Windows Vista(tm) Home Premium 32BIT

that is just an example of what your MIGHT say.

2) Once you find that disk there are two things you can do but they probably work the same

3a) You could insert the disk and follow the instructions for a Custom install and it will ask you which place to install it one and choose the disk with the largest space usually there is just one choice named Local Disk (C:).

3b) I usually turn off the pc and boot* from the disk but i think they do the exact same thing only when you do it this way you cannot use your pc during the process.

Once you do you will be presenting with the same menu that you would with 3a and follow the steps accordingly.

4) After it is complete it will boot into windows and things might not look normal. This is easily fixed two ways. by the driver disks that came with your pc or by going to the dell website and downloading the drivers for your devices

*if you do not know how to boot from a disk what you do is insert the disk into pc. Shut it off then turn it on and click whatever F1-12 key is assigned to Boot Menu and select CD or whatever your cd device is called usually named something with ';CD'; or ';DVD'; and choose it from there it will say something along the lines of

';press any key to boot from disk...';
This computer does not have a Factory Default Recovery partition and the system must be installed from a Recovery CD or a Windows CD.
